12 Dancing Princesses

A king in a far off kingdom has a problem. He has twelve beautiful daughters who sleep in twelve beds locked in their bedroom. The king gets them new shoes everyday, but by morning the shoes are worn full of holes as if they had been dancing all night. The king declares that whoever can solve the mystery of the princesses’ shoes will marry one of the princesses and will become the next king. Many princes try to solve the mystery and many fail. One lone soldier thinks he might be up to the test.

The fairy tale mystery of The Twelve Dancing Princesses was one of many stories written by the Grimm Brothers and added to their collection of tales almost 200 years ago. The Apprentices and Trainees of Northern Plains Dance bring this exuberant fairy tale to life with the Story Time Ballet performance series. These performances include audience participation and live story narration. This performance is approximately 40 minutes in length.

12 Dancing Princesses will take place on April 26, 2010 at 9:00am, 10:15am, and 2:00pm. Cost is $2.00/student and teachers and chaperones are free.
